How is the good way to motivate other people to keep on green living, and tell them why it is crucial?
That’s just what I wanna ask, please share with me, what your idea(s) is, thanks..
Lead by example. I have influenced many friends and family to begin to make changes that are better for the earth. We have a great opportunity with the economy taking a downturn. Since the 1st of the 3 R’s is reduce, that is the easiest and saves people money. I begin by listening and try to find little changes people can make that will benefit them directly. If they have health concerns I talk about natural or non toxic cleaning products and beauty products. If they have children I share the information on the hazards of the flame retardants on clothing and bedding and how they can save money and provide better nutrition with a waste free lunch. If they have had their income drop I talk about energy conservation, reducing food waste, eating a local diet and reducing meat consumption, all are good for the earth and save money. If they are buying a new car and think that a hybrid costs more than a conventional, I talk about ways mine has saved me money, changing the oil every 7500 miles vs 3000, in CA no smog check required, some banks give lower rates for fuel efficient cars, saving money on gas, fewer maintenance costs, cheaper tires, the fact that I still love my car after 6 years and it has maintained much of it’s resale value. There are a million things you can share with someone, but if you aren’t a livining example of how to go green and maintain a quality lifestyle you should focus on yourself first. Get to know your audiance, and don’t force feed them or tell them they are bad or wrong. I also never talk about climate change, I believe pollution and limited resources are a much greater threat.

Green Living :.:.:. | How exactly can I start living green |?
Start Simple Than slowly list more advanced thing I could do.
You’re right about starting simply to more advanced.
Focus on one thing at the time so you don’t feel overwhelmed.
Small things:
- Use your car less: instead of going to the video or corner store by car walk, use a bike.
- Buy local products: transportation costs of goods amount for lots of CO2 emissions.
- Recycle and start a compost: check if a school nearby has a compost already you could just bring your food waste there. (keep your food scraps in a bag in your freezer until it’s full, that way you avoid bad smells!)
- Bring reusable bags for whatever shopping you do.
Good Luck!
Which aspect of green living do you environmentally concerned people value most highly?
Could be anything – but I guess it is going to be around food, transport or waste. Creative ideas most welcome.
the most important thing humanity can do is feed all the toilets in the world recycled and reclaimed water. Think about it, drinkable water being flushed down the drain is the most stupid thing this world does. Not having desalinization plants in every city all along all of the oceans of the world is number two. If the entire world would solve these two problems we would solve all of the water shortage forever. Water used to bathe in, wash dishes in and shower in should be set up to gather and then be recycled into watering the yards and plants around all homes and buildings. A passive watering system should be mandate on all newly built homes. Solar energy can not be ignored. Incandescent lighting should be outlawed. Littering should involve 120 days of jail time in a cell with a 300 pound ugly gay guy. Men proved involved in rape cases should have their penises cut off. I mean if we are cleaning house then let’s nip this B S in the bud right? If you cheat, steal or lie you get a one way ticket to Istanbul to live there, not here, until you die. Big or little companies caught dumping, polluting or trying to get away with hazardous spills of anything considered unhealthy to humanity must be closed down. Just shut and lock their doors for two months. Do it again and the company gets shut down for good. When people start getting serious then and only then will the turn around become important.

What are some basic starts for green living, starting at home?
can you list at least ten things please, if not than fewer,
Thanks!
Well, there are a lot of things you can do:
1. you can turn off all the lights you aren’t using
2. change your light bulbs to the eco bulbs you can get at the store for about the same amount of regular bulbs
3. use plastic or glass cups and plates rather than paper
4. don’t throw away paper, put it in the recycling bin
5. unplug any lamps or electronics when you’re not using them
6. instead of sending mail send e-mails to save paper
7. walk short distances instead of driving
8. carpool to save gas
9. Use battery operated electronics rather than plug-ins
10. recycle bottles at your local grocery store and re-use plastic bottles instead of buying new ones
hope this helps!

Why does everyone here think that green living is only about energy reduction, and recycling?
Do they not realize that it also means ridding our homes of the chemicals in our everyday consummable products, things like bleach, phosphates, ammonias and other dangerous manmade compounds, including formeldehyde.
There are more concepts out there than any single ad will show you, and we are mostly a population driven by ads and consumer ideas. Think of it as a phase "we" are going through, like Disco, or bell bottom pants. It will come and go, and mean more or less to different people.
The philosophy of living lightly on the earth has been around for quite a while. "Living Green" is just the latest marketing ploy. It really comes down to taking a further step than you mention and rid your home of many of the everyday consumable things we take for granted. It means buying things to last, and this is at times at odds with many greenies.
For example:
I am pleased that I found a local dairy that puts their milk into glass bottles, it costs a bit more, but the milk lasts longer, and tastes better. Not that adult humans need to drink much milk in their daily diets.
Plastic shoes, use petrochemicals and do not last. Cloth shoes are a little better, but not as long lived. Leather shoes will last a lifetime if cared for, but it means you need leather- a dilemma for vegans.
So, the philosophy is not concrete, nor does it fit everyone the same.
However, every thing that anyone does to lighten the load upon the earth is a help, and you should be ready to help educate, not chastise when viewpoints diverge. I know it can be frustrating, just stay the course. Many times it is about economics and big business cleverly disguised by marketing. Educate yourself in the world, then gently work to educate others. The earth needs a peaceful revolution for a change.
