Wind Generator: Sustainable Living student project
http://www.mum.edu/sustainable_living/ Sustainable Living students at Maharishi University build a wind generator from scratch. The design was largely based on the axial-flux design found on www.otherpower.com Some other helpful sites are www.windstuffnow.com and http://www.scoraigwind.com/.
Maharishi University of Management (MUM) offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the arts, sciences, business, and humanities. The University is accredited through the doctoral level by the Higher Learning Commission.
Founded in 1971 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the University features Consciousness-Based education to develop students’ inner potential. All students and faculty practice the Transcendental Meditation technique, which extensive published research has found boosts learning ability, improves brain functioning, and reduces stress.
Maharishi University uses the block system in which each student takes one course at a time students report they learn more without the stress of taking 4-5 courses at once.
The University has a strong focus on sustainability and natural health, and serves organic vegetarian meals. The B.S. in Sustainable Living is MUM’s most popular undergraduate major.

Best wind power for a 1400 sqft home to replace electric?
I would like to convert our home to use wind energy instead of electric, we get lots of wind so thats not a problem. How do I find one that is suitable for our 1400 sqft home we have 1/2 acre so space is not a problem. However when looking on the internet the prices are so varied and its very confusing. Please help if you hav e the knowledge. Thankyou
There is off-grid wind systems that stores the energy in a battery bank.
Get your 2007 electric utility bill KWH (Kilo Watts Per Hour) for all twelve months. You can do this by calling up you electric company and requesting the KWH used for the year of 2007 for all twelve months.
Once you got this their is a formula you use to determine what kilowatt system you will need.
Once you gather that information get it to a solar/wind powered expert and they will tell you what type of wind system you will need.
If you want additional help on how to do this I would be glad to help you determine the size of your wind powered system for free.

So we can use wind turbines to generation Energy, ie Wind Power. The Earth has many more powerful elements … Could these be harvested to create Power?
Yes we can. We just have to be weened off of nuclear and oil generated power. Many companies would be hurting and many people would be out of the job if we switched to natural power over night. We are slowly but surly switching to natural power. California is using tidal power for some things. Some places are using wind power. The ecological park down the hill from me gets their power from the sun. Some houses on my road have solar panels on their roofs for solar power. We are slowly heading in the right direction. Some companies and other places use geothermal energy (heat from the Earth’s interior for power).
How do you get a home or business powered by solar power in New York City?
I know they have solar panels and they can be bought. But, does anyone know of an example of a residential or small business in new york city that uses solar power to offset some of the electrical bills.
Will con edison allow it?
the answer to this question is what i would like to implement in NYC

Most all public utilities allow you to grid tie a solar electric system. Just how much will they pay you per kWh is the question.
It looks like NY has a lot of incentives, Check out this link to find out what the incentives are in your state.

Total the kill a watt hours for the last 12 months from your electric bills. You would normally divide that by 365 days and you have your daily avg usage. You divide that by the peak sun hours in your area and that is about how many watts in solar modules you need. Pick an inverter to match and hook it up.
You could go to the following link and spend about 15 minutes and size and price a solar kit system. I installed a 1000 watt system and the only thing missing was the electrician and the long wire runs from the roof to the inverter breaker. http://www.oynot.com/grid-tie-only-how-to.html Took about 10 hours and 5 of them the electrician was helping so it is a two person job.
Cost me 500 bucks to the electrician to pull the permits connect the wires and hand me the solar modules on the roof. I did the rest.
