grants or refunds for solar/wind powered home?

I have an off-grid solar and wind powered home in upstate New York. I was told that President Obama has restructured going green incentives and large refunds and grants might be available. I recently have added new wind generator equipment and would also like to add more solar panels, does any one know how I can find out what I might be eligible for ?

Is there already an solar-wind powered prototype vehicle made?

Just curious…
I notice many cars made within the last decade. Electric cars, solar-powered cars, remote-controled cars, and much more. But I thought I seen a wind hover-craft or something that uses stored energy to power up the power fans under the craft thus liftes the machine and uses the wind from the bottom to fully power the machine and save some to start up the next time. It has a fan on the back to proceed and in front for a efficent stop. Basically a gas-less evoriment friendly machine and strong against earthquakes.

Have you seen one somewhere?
I think they say that it looks similar like the manta machine featured in the Unreal Tournament series.

You can easily have a solar or wind powered car – just buy solar panels, or a windmill, and use them to charge an electric car.

An electric car can be had for as little as $5000. For this price you get a conversion – a gas car converted to electric. Cars like this look and handle like normal cars, and do freeway speeds, but have limited driving ranges. I drive a car like this. More info here:

If you want a new electric car, here’s an exciting one, coming out this year. It will go up to 250 miles on a charge, carries 5 people plus cargo, and can charge in only ten minutes. Info here:

The Phoenix will be expensive though. If you don’t need to get on the freeway, you might like the Zap. It’s a very fun vehicle that only costs $10,000.

I’ll bet you’ve never heard of any of these cars. Popular culture, with help from the media and various corporate interests, continues to propogate the myth that such cars are impossible. Join me – drive an impossible car!

How do you transport solar power tower energy to a building that is 4 kms away?

And is an area of 1 km^2 for a solar power tower enough to produce energy for five houses? can you make an approximation of how much it could supply?

If you want the heat energy, consider tracking mirrors at the site and solar collectors on the houses. If you want electric energy, that area is enough to support a traditional steam turbine, much more cost-effective than photovoltaic. That area is about 15 times the area that Solar One used to generate 10 megawatts in the Mohave Desert, so it could supply a theoretical maximum of 150 megawatts during peak sunshine. That’s probably enough to match the demand of about 25,000 homes. Best bet would be to feed it to the electric power grid.

Care to share some renewable energy green living tips?

Just looking for some general tips on living greener, things such as solar panels, etc, that won’t cost a lot to implement? Of course, solar panels cost a fortune, but it’s an example. Thanks!

Hey Jenny,

I actually just responded to another question of yours too a few minutes ago. I’ve been reviewing "green" manuals lately and found something called "Earth4Energy" – It’s a great guide with detailed information on how to build your own solar and wind power. You can check out my full review of it @ http://renewable-energy-info.com/ – Best of luck to ya!
